Fabric by meter: width and length

Width is the distance across the cloth, from one selvedge (finished side edge) to the other. Purchased length runs along the roll. Buying more length does not increase the fabric width.

Check the product description for the actual usable width. Packaging dimensions are not fabric width. Ask whether selvedges are included if usable width matters.

Metres and number of cuts

Select a cut length and the number of cuts offered on the product page. Separate cuts are separate lengths; do not assume they will arrive as one continuous piece. For example, two cuts of 2.5 metres total 5 metres. For a continuous length, choose that length as one cut when offered, or ask us before ordering.

Use your pattern or a tailor’s cutting plan to estimate length. Allow for seams, hems, pattern matching and any product-specific shrinkage guidance; no universal allowance or shrinkage percentage is guaranteed.

Bedsheets: measure the mattress

1. Measure mattress width (side to side) and length (head to foot).
2. Measure mattress depth, including any topper.
3. For a fitted sheet, compare all three measurements with its listed dimensions and pocket depth. For a flat sheet, consider the overhang and tuck you want on each side and at the foot.

Names such as single, queen and king vary between makers. Compare actual dimensions for the selected size. Check the pack description for pillow cover quantities and measurements; accessories are included only when explicitly listed.

Curtains: measure the hanging space

1. Measure the usable curtain rod or track width, rather than just the window glass.
2. Measure the drop from the intended hanging point to your preferred finish: sill, below sill or floor. The starting point depends on the heading, hooks or eyelets.
3. Check whether the listed width is for one panel or a pair, and how many panels are in the pack.

Gathered curtains need more cloth width than the space they cover. Confirm the product’s heading and recommended fullness before choosing a panel count. Fabric sold by meter still needs a cutting plan, seams and hems.

Cushion covers: measure the insert

1. Lay the cushion insert flat without compressing it and measure across the seams in both directions.
2. If replacing a cover, remove the insert and measure the cover flat, seam to seam.
3. Compare those measurements with the selected cover’s finished dimensions and stated fit guidance.

Check whether the item is a cover only or includes an insert. Do not assume a size name or photograph confirms its dimensions or contents.

Find exact measurements before ordering

On the product page, choose your colour and size, then check Buying details, the full description and the Product size information section when supplied. A size label alone may not give finished dimensions. This guide’s examples are not guaranteed product specifications.

Unit conversion: 1 inch = 2.54 centimeters exactly; 1 meter = 100 centimeters. Multiply inches by 2.54 to get centimeters; divide centimeters by 2.54 to get inches. Keep the original measurement when comparing a product chart; rounded conversions can differ slightly.

Material, printing and care

Check the stated composition and printing type. Follow the selected product’s care instructions. If width, finished dimensions, care, pack contents or fit guidance are missing, ask us before ordering with the product name, selected size and your measurements.
